Slots the Yard Game
A fun beach and yard game that is engineered with quality material and strong structure.
Slots the yard game is played through rolling wheels towards a three-slot board on the opposing team. The client approached us to improve their existing plywood version to a commercially ready and value-engineered version of the game. The final product is a three pieces self-assembled injection-molded board with a rugged PU rolling wheel. The whole game including accessories can be stacked and packed for shipping in a neat 21” x 15” x 6” package.
To achieve the same strength as the plywood version and bring the weight down, the board is supported by a variety of materials. The main board is made with ABS and joined with stainless steel screws. The board is hammered to the ground with extruded triangular aluminum poles. The poles are stabilized with tough high density silicone holders on the main board.
While we would like to keep the ABS version as light as possible, we would not compromise on the gameplay and reduce the overall strength of the board. We engineered appropriate ribs to strengthen the back of the board and run CAD stimulation to evaluate our results.
Apart from CAD stimulations, we also run on-site testing to ensure our design functions as intended. This is an early CNC prototype we tested on the stability and strength of the board.
